Policies, Regulations and Laws

Freedom of expression and an open environment to pursue scholarly inquiry and to share information are encouraged, supported and protected at Texas A&M University. The University's stance on communications on the Internet is detailed in the Electronic Information Study Group Final Report.

Listed below are policies, regulations and laws that cover the appropriate use of the Texas A&M University campus network. It is important that you read and understand them, as violations of them can have serious ramifications. The CIS Network Group does not police the network, but we do respond to all complaints and, if the situation warrants, pass the information collected to either the Student Conflict Resolution Center or the University Police Department.

This information and more is covered on the Student Computing Information Page (SCIP). Also, see the Cyberlaw Encyclopedia for a comprehensive set of information concerning technology related laws.
