NAT Devices on the TAMU Network

NAT (Network Address Translation) devices are allowed on the (non-ResNet) campus network. However, there are certain guidelines that must be followed to use this device.

If the device being installed behind the NAT box is a workstation, server, or other general purpose computing device, you may not have more than one device behind a single NAT box. If you need to place multiple workstations or servers behind a NAT device to meet HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), CISP (Cardholder Information Security Program), or other requirements, the installation must be coordinated with the CIS network group.

It's always a good idea to send an e-mail to consult@net.tamu.edu or security@net.tamu.edu before you install any NAT devices, just so that we are aware of the situation.

If you have any questions, please send e-mail to security@net.tamu.edu.
