Category 5e and Category 6 Unshielded Twisted Pair Installation
The CIS Network Group will wire twisted pair connections based on Category 5e wire to distribution equipment within a department following CIS wiring standards. This distribution equipment must be approved by the CIS Network Group. The department will be responsible for purchasing the needed distribution equipment and maintaining it. If the equipment fails, it is the department's responsibility to have it repaired. The department must agree that all physical maintenance and configuration of the wiring will be performed by CIS. This cost to departments reflects cabling supplies and labor associated with twisted pair ethernet installations. CIS will maintain the wiring at no cost, but equipment problems that CIS is requested to diagnose will be billed on the standard hourly basis.
Fiber Optic Installation The CIS Network Group will install multimode fiber optic connections to deskt ops within a department following CIS fiber standards. The department will be responsible for purchasing the needed distribution equipment and maintaining it. If the equipment fails, it is the department's responsibility to have it repaired. The department must agree that all physical maintenance and configuration of the fiber optics will be performed by CIS. The cost per connection includes one 3 meter ST/ST jumper.
